The African CEO Institute is an executive education, leadership development and peer-learning initiative of the African CEO Council.
The Institute equips chief executives, business founders, board directors, public-enterprise leaders and senior executives with the strategic, governance and leadership capabilities required to manage competitive and sustainable organisations in Africa’s rapidly changing business environment.
Its programmes combine African business realities with internationally recognised leadership practices. Rather than operating as a conventional academic institution, the Institute offers practical, executive-level learning through seminars, masterclasses, case studies, CEO roundtables, peer exchanges, mentoring, simulations and international study programmes.
The Institute addresses subjects such as enterprise strategy, governance, access to capital, regional expansion, digital transformation, responsible artificial intelligence, sustainability, risk, succession, crisis leadership and stakeholder management.
It serves as the African CEO Council’s principal platform for executive and institutional leadership development.
Background Information
Africa is experiencing significant economic, demographic, technological and institutional transformation.
The African Continental Free Trade Area is creating opportunities for regional expansion. Digital technologies are changing how organisations operate and compete. Investors and regulators are placing greater emphasis on governance, accountability and sustainability. Artificial intelligence is transforming business models, employment and decision-making.
At the same time, African chief executives must contend with:
Leadership approaches developed for more predictable markets do not always address the realities of operating across diverse African economies.
African executives require leadership development that is commercially practical, contextually relevant and informed by the experiences of leaders who understand the continent.
The African CEO Institute was conceived to address this need.

CEOs occupy a distinctive position. They must:
These responsibilities require more than technical management knowledge. They require strategic judgement, institutional maturity, ethical leadership and the ability to learn from other accomplished decision-makers.
The Institute creates a trusted environment in which African executives can strengthen these capabilities.
Institutional Profile
The African CEO Institute operates as a flagship initiative of the African CEO Council.
It is not a degree-awarding university. Instead, it provides:
