The African CEO Council is committed to advancing a strategic agenda that strengthens the competitiveness, sustainability, and long-term prosperity of African businesses while contributing meaningfully to the achievement of national, regional, and global development priorities. The Council recognizes that today's business environment demands visionary leadership that extends beyond profitability to encompass environmental stewardship, social responsibility, ethical governance, and inclusive economic development. Consequently, the Council's programmes, advocacy initiatives, partnerships, and research activities are organized around five (5) key strategic priority areas.
Our Commitment to the Competitiveness of African enterprises
The African CEO Council is committed to serving as Africa's voice for responsible business leadership. By advancing these five strategic priorities, the Council does not only strengthen the competitiveness of African enterprises but also contribute to the realization of the African Union's Agenda 2063, support implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and reinforce the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through principled leadership, strategic partnerships, and collective action, the Council helps shape a prosperous, resilient, sustainable, and globally competitive Africa led by visionary chief executives and responsible private-sector institutions.

Connecting African Enterprises to African Markets
Africa represents one of the world’s most promising economic regions, yet trade among African countries remains constrained by fragmented markets, regulatory differences, inadequate infrastructure, limited market information and difficulties with cross-border payments and logistics.
The African Continental Free Trade Area provides an historic opportunity to create a more integrated continental market. However, trade agreements alone will not produce meaningful results unless African enterprises can identify opportunities, establish commercial relationships and overcome the practical barriers to entering new markets.
The African CEO Council promotes business-led regional integration by helping chief executives understand African markets, develop cross-border partnerships and convert trade policy into commercial opportunity.
Our Purpose
To enable African companies to expand beyond their domestic markets, participate in regional value chains and build competitive enterprises capable of operating successfully across the continent.
Strategic Objectives
The Council seeks to:

Connecting Credible African Enterprises with Appropriate Finance
Many promising African companies struggle to obtain the capital required to expand operations, enter new markets, adopt technology, develop infrastructure or create employment.
The challenge is not simply the absence of finance. It is also the gap between the requirements of capital providers and the readiness of companies seeking investment. Financial institutions may view growth companies as insufficiently structured, while entrepreneurs may find available financing costly, complex or unsuitable for their stage of development.
The African CEO Council seeks to narrow this gap by improving dialogue, investment readiness and connections between enterprises and capital providers.
Our Purpose
To improve access to appropriate, responsible and growth-oriented capital for credible African companies with the potential to create economic and social value.
Strategic Objectives
The Council aims to:

Building Strong Leaders and Enduring Institutions
The long-term performance of an enterprise depends not only on its products, capital or market position, but also on the quality of its leadership and governance.
African chief executives and boards operate in complex environments shaped by economic uncertainty, regulatory change, technological disruption, stakeholder expectations and political and social pressures. They must make consequential decisions while protecting institutional integrity and long-term value.
The African CEO Council strengthens the capability of CEOs, board directors and senior executives to lead responsibly, govern effectively and build resilient organisations.
Our Purpose
To develop capable chief executives and effective boards that can lead competitive, ethical and sustainable African institutions.
Strategic Objectives
The Council seeks to:

Digital technology is transforming how African organisations operate, compete and serve customers. Artificial intelligence, automation, cloud computing, data analytics, digital payments and platform-based business models can improve productivity, expand access and create entirely new markets.

Harnessing Technology While Protecting Trust
Digital technology is transforming how African organisations operate, compete and serve customers. Artificial intelligence, automation, cloud computing, data analytics, digital payments and platform-based business models can improve productivity, expand access and create entirely new markets.
However, digital transformation also creates significant risks. Poorly governed technology can expose organisations to cybersecurity failures, privacy violations, biased decisions, regulatory breaches, workforce disruption and reputational damage.
Technology should therefore be treated as a strategic leadership and governance issue—not only as an information-technology responsibility.
Our Purpose
To help African CEOs and boards use digital technologies and artificial intelligence responsibly, securely and productively.
Strategic Objectives
The Council aims to:

Creating Long-Term Enterprise Value Through Responsible Business
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles have become fundamental drivers of corporate competitiveness, investor confidence, and long-term business resilience. The Council champions ESG integration as a core component of responsible corporate leadership across Africa.
The Council provides guidance, training, benchmarking tools, and policy recommendations that help businesses improve environmental performance, strengthen governance systems, promote social responsibility, and enhance transparency. It also encourages the adoption of internationally recognized ESG reporting frameworks to improve corporate accountability and attract sustainable investment.
